Kids swimming lessons in Singapore
For children up to 12: build water confidence, learn the strokes and stay safe in the water. Taught 1-to-1 or in small groups by Swim2u coaches.
Swim2u's kids programme is for children up to 12. Lessons are 45 minutes and sold in blocks of four, taught 1-to-1, in pairs, or in small groups. Most children start with water confidence, then build towards independent swimming and the four strokes. Families who want a recognised benchmark can work towards SwimSafer stages.
What your child will learn
- Water confidence: getting in and out safely, face in the water, blowing bubbles.
- Floating and gliding: front and back floats, and standing up again without panic.
- Kicking and breathing: the foundation for every stroke.
- Strokes: freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke first, then butterfly for stronger swimmers.
- Water safety: treading water, safe entries and what to do if they fall in.
1-to-1, pair or small group?

How often should kids swim?
Once a week is the most common schedule and works well for steady progress. Twice a week helps if you're working towards a deadline, such as a school swimming test or holiday trip. Gaps of several weeks usually mean the first lesson back is spent recovering lost confidence.
How long until my child can swim?
It varies with age, comfort in water and how often they attend. A confident seven-year-old usually progresses faster than a nervous four-year-old. Your coach will set goals after the first lesson and review them at the end of each block. Read how long it takes to learn swimming for a fuller guide.
Where lessons take place
At public swimming complexes across Singapore, or at your condo pool. Condo lessons are popular with families with two or more children, because siblings can share a slot.
Common parent concerns
My child cries in the water.
This is common in the first lessons. Coaches slow down, use games and let children hold the wall or a float until they're ready. Pushing too fast is the fastest way to lose progress.
Should I stay by the pool?
For younger children, yes, at least for the first few lessons. Some children focus better once parents step back; your coach will tell you.
Beginner or not?
If your child can't yet swim a few metres unaided, start with the beginner swimming lessons approach.
Frequently asked questions
What age is the kids programme for?
Children up to age 12. Toddlers up to 4 have a separate 30-minute programme on swim2u.sg.
What should my child bring?
Swimsuit, goggles, a towel, and a swim cap if the pool requires one. Arrive 10 minutes early.
Can siblings of different ages share a lesson?
Yes, if their ability is similar. If not, back-to-back slots with the same coach often work better.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
Rescheduling depends on notice given. See Swim2u's terms and conditions.
