Adult swimming lessons in Singapore

Never learned, lost confidence, or want better technique? Patient 1-to-1 and small-group lessons for adults, at a pool near you.

Many adults in Singapore never had the chance to learn, or learned a little and lost confidence. Swim2u's adult lessons are 45 minutes, taught 1-to-1 or in small groups, and paced for grown-ups. You won't be put in the shallow end with children, and nobody will make you jump in before you're ready.

Starting from zero

Adult beginners usually work through the same foundations, in this order:

  1. Breathing: breathing out into the water calmly, which removes most of the panic.
  2. Floating: finding out that your body does float, front and back.
  3. Standing up: recovering to your feet from a float, so you always feel in control.
  4. Gliding and kicking: moving through the water on your own.
  5. First stroke: usually breaststroke or freestyle, with breathing added gradually.

Fear of water and embarrassment

Feeling anxious is normal and common among adult learners. A 1-to-1 lesson removes the audience, and your coach will agree each step with you. Ladies who'd prefer a female coach can book ladies swimming lessons.

Improving technique

If you can already swim but tire quickly, can't breathe comfortably in freestyle, or swim with your head up, technique lessons focus on body position, breathing rhythm and an efficient kick. A few 1-to-1 sessions often make a noticeable difference.

Swimming for fitness

Once you can swim continuously, your coach can build simple lap sets to improve endurance, which is useful before starting regular lap swimming on your own.

How long will it take?

Adults often understand instructions faster than children but carry more tension in the water. Progress depends on how relaxed you become and how often you practise. Weekly lessons plus one practice swim a week makes a real difference. See how long it takes to learn swimming.
